The project, ‘Wilder Kaiser’, or ‘Wild Emperor,’ – named after the mountain range it captures – is a series of 47,739 photographs, taken every 10 minutes and 31 seconds, from 1st of January until 31st of December 2004. The same composition was repeatedly photographed, creating a large series of images – each one different to the last and presenting a landscape of emotional power and meaning. They capture a fleeting moment, celebrating the wonder of the Alpine region’s landscape with an intimate and meditative reflection on the natural world. The project came to life through a creative collaboration between Rolf and Maryam Sachs.
