The Herzschuss (shot to the heart) chairs, wittily draw on Switzerland’s history of marksmanship and shooting clubs, by shooting out the traditional heart-shaped detail of the ‘Stabellenstuhl’ chair, which here is minimally re-imagined – keeping the emotional resonance while removing any unnecessary decoration.
The series of chairs forms part of the Herzschuss exhibition in the Engadin (Switzerland) where Sachs celebrates his close connection to the customs, materials and traditional furniture of his childhood landscape.
